Facilitating the Terminology Approval Workflow

The client-server environment is highly flexible, for fine-grained access management. Administrators can control the distribution for records and control what information is available to whom. For example, with the Advanced Terminology Server administrators can define records that are only accessible by the translation team and others that would be accessible to all users via intranet. This way, you can have one centralized terminology system for all information, which can be accessed by different users for different purposes. The MultiTrans 4 Translation Generator uses sophisticated algorithms to extract terminology from your TextBase Translation Memories and to identify and retrieve the corresponding translations in multiple languages. The system then displays a list of possible translations per expression for your validation. This unique approach enables you to quickly leverage the information contained in your TextBase TM into large and specialized terminology databases.

From the same centralized terminology database, administrators can allow specific users to add, revise and approve entries, ensuring that terminology is always accurate and up-to-date.

For example, consider this typical workflow: 

1- An author could have the right to propose new entries in their own language, but not to modify, delete terms nor add any entries in other languages.

2- The translators could have the right to add and modify translations only.

New records have “proposed” status, and are only accessible by authorized users.

3- Revisers would have the right to modify, add, and delete entries as needed.

4- Once all required revisers have approved a record, the distribution level could be increased, making the record accessible to the translation department. 

The record is now available to the globalization department and to external vendors.

Information fields such as internal comments and notes are only visible to users in a translator role. 

5- Once a term has been approved, only specific entries and fields of information are deployed for consultation through the Web application.
 Only terminology records which have been approved are accessible to clients, and distributors, through the corporate Website.
