TextBase Translation Memory

The TextBase TM can enhance your current TM thanks to its compatibility with conventional TM's.

Benefits of TextBase TM over a Conventional TM:

  • Fully automated alignment
  • Contextual, multilingual and multidirectional TextBase TM
  • Identifies sub-segment matches - finds more repetitions
  • Multilingual search engine
  • Enhanced data mining when comparing a document against your TM
  • Can create a TM at 6-10 million words per hour - allowing you to build a larger TM
  • Larger TM's enable you to identify more repetitions

The TextBase TM indexes your integral documents in a parallel fashion. Since it does not divide your document into individual sentences, it can easily align paragraphs and sentences nearly perfectly without any human intervention. The context is preserved up to the document level, and you can easily realign a sentence on-the-fly, in the rare cases of misalignment. The TextBase TM can be multilingual and multidirectional, eliminating the need for exponentially duplicating bilingual memories.

A conventional TM divides your document in out-of-context sentences, and then tries to align them. It can be compared to an Excel worksheet, where, for instance, in column A, you have the English, and in column B the French sentences. It is very tedious to check that each sentence or sentence group is perfectly aligned because the context has been lost.

Multilingual and Multidirectional:

The optional multilingual, multidirectional TextBase TM allows you to manage large volumes of content that have been translated into an unlimited number of languages in a single, multi-directional structure. This dramatically reduces your server storage requirements and administrative burden.

Conventional repositories and translation memories require that a separate database be constructed for each language pair. For a global organization that operates in only 20 languages, for example, this could mean up to 190 separate databases to cover all language combinations - something that is hardly feasible.
